WESTCHESTER, Fla. – The surveillance video shows how two car jackers broke into two Mercedes Benz cars owned by Jorge Zubigaray in Westchester. They rammed the cars into his gate and drove away, but he was able to outsmart them later.
The noise alarmed Zubigaray’s family, but when he went out to investigate they were already gone. Zubigaray said he left the keys in the cars. The carjackers disabled the factory GPS system but they didn’t know he had a secondary tracking system.
“I was able to deactivate the cars while driving,” said Zubigaray.
The drivers had to get out of the cars. Zubigaray was chasing one near Oakland Park Boulevard and Interstate 95 and the other near I-95 and State Road 112. He wants Miami-Dade cops to catch the carjackers.
Zubigaray said they did about $ 35,000 in damage between the two iron gates and the cars. He tells anyone with information about the Carjacker to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
