Mumbai Modifier turns Mahindra Thar into a luxury SUV

This tailor-made Thar has rear touchscreens like the BMW 6 Series GT and even a sunroof

A Mumbai-based modification company has turned the rugged Mahindra Thar into a soft, luxurious SUV. The Executive Modcar Trendz (EMT) concept is for anyone who thought the Thar’s interior could be better off with a bit of beige and leather. Even the back seat looks inviting now! Check out the bright new interior of this Thar in the video below:

The EMT team customized this thar for a customer. You have reupholstered the standard all-black interior with beige leather and added a sense of space in an otherwise compact cabin with roof lighting.

The Mahindra Thar the 2. It can be powered by a powerful 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine with 150 hp or a 2.2-liter diesel engine with 130 hp, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed Automatic transmission, to be ordered.

Despite the price of Rs 15 lakh (for its top-of-the-line variant), the Thar’s interior does not meet the standards set by similarly expensive SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta or Tata Harrier. After all, the interior is less of a priority than off-road mobility. Mahindra has equipped it with modern amenities such as a touchscreen infotainment system, an audio system with four speakers and air conditioning. But EMT takes that to the next level.

The seats and door panels are covered with beige leather, some parts of the dashboard and door panels were painted in tan to match the theme. This and the aftermarket ambient lighting alone is enough to spice up the front seating area. A retrofittable front armrest with a storage compartment and a USB charging point also provides some practical functions.

The passengers in the back seats will no longer feel like second-class citizens. Sure, the two-seater bench itself is a bit narrow, but the roof lighting and sunroof make up for the lack of space. The seats are made of leather, as are the side armrests. You even get a pair of screens, each larger than the stock 7-inch touchscreen on the front.

Individually painted trim parts remain true to the theme, and even the structural support that forms the C-pillar is wrapped in leather. Individual roof lighting gives this Thar a feeling of space that the normal SUV simply does not have. There’s even a sunroof that opens over the rear passengers so you don’t miss the soft-top version of the Thar.

As you can imagine, these interior modifications can add significantly to the price. EMT’s interior modification package costs Rs 5 lakh, including the pair of touchscreens. EMT is also offering an exterior package – including new custom LED headlights and a new grille – for 50,000 rupees.
