“Gospel music contributes to the boom in the country” | The Guardian Nigeria News

LeinaDaniels is a gospel artist and songwriter. In an interview with ADAMU ABUH he shares his experiences and challenges in the industry.
What does gospel music mean to you?
It is a movement with the mission to reveal Jesus Christ as God and to spread his message of hope through music for the salvation of souls.

How do you rate the genre’s contribution to the economy?
The film and music industry surpassed its 2020 forecast of $ 806 million in sales and contributed approximately 730 billion naira ($ 1.8 billion) to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP). The achievement is not due solely to secular music. Gospel music has also helped the country flourish by creating jobs, entertaining people, and spreading messages of truth and hope.

How do you deal with the distraction of female fans?
This is what I want to say as a preacher of the gospel; Our mission is not just to entertain, but to preach the gospel to all men and women. Although we have read or seen many instances of temptation, my most important key is to create biblical standards and back them up with personal choices that serve as guidelines. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can cope with any form of distraction.

What are your challenges in the industry?
Personally, I think this is more of a prayer point. That God will raise up more men and women to support God’s work through worship. We need more gospel record labels. There are many anointed and gifted servants out there who are not heard and who are blessed in their hearts with much to share. We are one body in Christ Jesus, but somehow we have allowed denominations and doctrines to divide us, and this has been a barrier that has really affected unity, flow, and growth among gospel musicians. Some gospel preachers have powerful songs but do not produce them properly. We are in the 21st century where excellence is a necessity; we really need to upgrade / upgrade our quality of the music produced.

What is your advice to those who want to become a gospel artist?
First I want to quickly say that we are in the last days and not just that, it is a time for the manifestations of the Sons of God and it will be a great privilege and opportunity to be part of this great movement for the kingdom God.

What do you regret in this job, what would you like to change?
I have no regrets because nothing is too big for God. Yes, there may be challenges, but with God’s help we overcome as there is no regret in God’s work.
