Annoyed the arrival of new music, Courtney Barnett posted a small excerpt on streaming services under a pseudonym.
On Instagram, Barnett promoted her playlist Tell Me What You’re Listening To on Spotify. She also released a professionally filmed clip looking out the window of her house.
Interestingly, one of the songs on the playlist is the 13-second track ‘All Eyes on the Pavement’ by Oliver Paul, clearly sung by Barnett. Paul is also the protagonist in Barnett’s track ‘Elevator Operator’.
Also, “All Eyes On The Pavement” was released on the A Crabby Mettle Neutron label, an anagram of Courtney Melba Barnett, the singer’s full name.
Listen to the following excerpt:
Over on TikTok, Barnett posted a video drawing a billboard in Melbourne saying “Things Take Time, Take Time”. The accompanying audio, the same as in ‘All Eyes on the Pavement’, is titled ‘Rae Street’.

Barnett had previously hinted at the debut of new music when she announced her New Zealand tour starting tomorrow (July 8th).
During an interview with Australian radio station Double J last year, Barnett said she was making new music on the go and said her new songs “feel a lot different”.
“I’ve been working on these songs since the last album came out, I think,” said Barnett.
“Many of them are those gentle folk songs that are written in hotel rooms. You can tell they are shy and calm. “
Courtney Barnett’s last album was her second album “Tell Me How You Really Feel” from 2018. NME gave the LP four stars on its release and wrote: “The queen of casual cool reveals her guts on her dark and melancholy second album” .
