Council and police support the hospitality industry in reopening in Rushcliffe

Rushcliffe Borough Council and Nottinghamshire Police are actively assisting the hospitality industry in reopening indoor spaces in Rushcliffe under the guidance of an updated fact sheet to help staff welcome customers back safely.

The guide has now been sent to over 200 premises across the district. The government has set important information about safe COVID operations as restrictions continue to be lifted in the coming weeks starting Monday May 17th.

Available on the RBC website, it is highlighted that companies must continue to collect the contact details of all customers or forward them to the Test and Trace QR code on smartphones in order to log their visit to a point of sale.

In accordance with the current guidelines as of this Monday, food or drink may be consumed in hospitality establishments. However, table service must remain in place, with the social distance between the tables and when using toilets and facilities as well as when booking a maximum of six people or two households per table.

If no alcohol is served on the premises, customers can order and collect food and drinks from a counter. However, you need to consume food and drink while seated.

Customers who use the toilet or changing rooms in a building must wear face covering.

Cllr Rob Inglis, Rushcliffe Borough Council Cabinet Portfolio Owner for Neighborhoods, said, “It has been a difficult time for businesses over the past year and while the easing of restrictions last month has helped many, we would like to continue our support wherever this is is possible.

“The recent lifting of restrictions should help strengthen our local cafes, restaurants and bars even further, but we are reminding business owners of their responsibilities.

“This is to ensure that they are fully aware of their obligation to operate safely, especially table service, and that all customers must adhere to these guidelines, which must still apply.

“Our environmental health and licensing teams are at your side every step of the way.”

If companies or customers have questions or need advice, the teams are available by email or phone on 0115 981 9911.

Nobody should go into a point of sale if they experience COVID-19 symptoms. In West Bridgford, the signage will once again outline a public space protection ordinance that sets out local regulations for drinking in the city’s public spaces.
