One of the most expensive 2022 full-size luxury SUV options is the Mercedes-Benz GLS, which also happens to be the lowest-rated SUV on Consumer Reports’ list this year.

The 2022 Buick Enclave is the cheapest full-size luxury SUV on Consumer Reports’ list, but its overall score is still finished in the middle of the pack in this category. It’s pretty impressive that an SUV with a starting MSRP range between $42,800 to $57,100 was rated third overall when some of the vehicles ranked below it can cost more than twice as much.
The reviewers at Consumer Reports gave the 2022 Buick Enclave high marks on the road test, especially regarding its transmission, acceleration, and braking. It also got decent marks for predicted owner satisfaction. Unfortunately, the Buick Enclave’s predicted reliability ranks on the low end of the spectrum, which can deter many prospective buyers from investing.
Despite its lower-than-average predicted reliability rating, the 2022 Buick Enclave is still an excellent option for those in the market for a more affordable full-size luxury SUV that performs well overall.

The most expensive and disappointing
If you want a full-size SUV that costs a lot of money and disappoints the reviewers at Consumer Reports, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS might be what you’re looking for. In all seriousness, this vehicle was rated highly on its road test, getting outstanding marks for most of the performance parameters Consumer Reports uses. Additionally, the GLS provides a smooth and comfortable ride for all passengers.
However, Consumer Reports wasn’t too impressed with the GLS’s confusing controls on the road test, including those that adjust lumbar support, the column gear shifter, and temperature control. Eventually, the reviewers at Consumer Reports found it all too easy to accidentally activate some command they didn’t intend to while driving.
However, the main problem with the Benz GLS is its low predicted reliability score. If you’re going to shell out between $77,850 and $102,250 to start for a luxury SUV, you reasonably expect it to be reliable and avoid trouble spots. Sadly, the 2022 Benz GLS doesn’t seem to hold up. In fact, there have already been two recalls issued by the NHTSA on this vehicle. One can increase the risk of fires, and the other can prevent a person from contacting emergency services.
