ORLANDO, Florida. – Venues across central Florida, including the Amway Center, are again booking events and recruiting.
On Wednesday evening, Amway Center hosted a job fair for all types of positions. The event also included face-to-face interviews.
Attending the job fair, Rosie Nwanganga added that she is currently riding Lyft but is exploring her options.

“It felt good to talk to someone face to face,” said Nwanganga. “It feels like almost everything is stopping, but there aren’t a lot of people who apply. It shows that times are definitely changing. “
Sean Snaith, Ph. D. is an economics professor at the University of Central Florida. He said some hospitality workers switched industries after their jobs were taken away during the pandemic.
“If you are a bartender you see the situation as not being doing daiquiris anytime soon, what are my other options and I think a lot of people have migrated to other positions,” Snaith said.
Snaith said with Florida ending federal unemployment benefits, the number of claims should increase.
“I’m not getting that extra $ 300 unemployment insurance, so things are a little tighter now, so maybe it makes sense to get back into work,” Snaith said.

Shaquille Wilbon said he had been unemployed for a year. Wilbon said he was reluctant to re-join the workforce for health reasons but is now ready to re-join.
“Some people were very affected and some less so it really just depends on your situation, but I’d say we have to start working again,” said Wilbon.
Anyone who applied for a job at the Amway Center on Wednesday went with free tickets to the Predators game that weekend.
